What Is a VIN Number?

A VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) is a unique 17-digit code made up of letters and numbers.

It works like a fingerprint for your car. No two vehicles have the same VIN.

This number tells you important information about the vehicle, like:

♦ The year it was made
♦ The car’s make and model
♦ Where it was built
♦ The engine type

You can usually find the VIN:

On the dashboard (near the windshield)

windshield vin location

On the driver’s side door

door jamb vin location

Or on your registration or insurance papers

Why is the VIN important?

The VIN helps us look up your vehicle’s history and make sure you get the right service contract to protect it.
